Course Description

First aid knowledge is an invaluable skill for both you as an individual and for your community. Knowing how to provide quick medical treatment whilst waiting for a professional to arrive can save lives. In an emergency situation whether at home, or in the workplace, do not be a helpless witness. Be the difference between life and death and learn how to save lives.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course students will be able to effectively respond to emergency situations and apply first aid for:

  • Allergic reaction
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Bleeding control
  • Choking and airway obstruction
  • Strokes
  • Respiratory distress, including asthma
  • Shock
  • Drowning
  • Poisoning
  • Seizures
  • Envenomation, using pressure immobilisation
  • Fractures, sprains and strains, using arm slings, roller bandages or other appropriate immobilisation techniques

Entry Requirements

This qualification to be suitable for students who have interest to learn how to provide first aid.

There are no formal entry requirements.

A Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment may be conducted on all entrants prior to enrolment into the program to ensure that College can support each student throughout the program.

Students will need to ensure they are able to connect to the internet and have the capability to use our online learning system that meets the minimum technical requirements, which are:

  • Access to a laptop/computer is preferred
  • An operating system supporting the following browsers (current version and up to three most recent versions): Chrome, Firefox, Safari (excluding Safari on Windows), and Microsoft Edge
    • For Windows: Windows 10, 4 Gb RAM installed (minimum)
    • FOR MAC: Mac OS X 10.13 or above
  • Access to Word processing software, such as Microsoft Word
  • Reliable internet connection

Course Overview

This qualification to be suitable for students who have interest to learn how to provide first aid.

In this course students will learn how to preform single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), care for dislocations, fractures, head, and neck and spinal injuries and provide time-sensitive assistance to people suffering an allergic or anaphylactic reaction. Students will also learn the principles and procedures for first aid management of burns, dislocations, soft tissue injuries and wounds.

Students are required to complete theory online before attending a practical training day on campus.

Class sizes are kept small to ensure students have adequate working space and undivided attention from our industry qualified Trainers.

Along with the knowledge of how to manage unconscious victims, students are also taught how to confidently conduct a visual and verbal assessment of the casualty, how to complete safe manual handling techniques and how to provide an accurate report of the incident.

During this short course students will actively work through a theory workbook before using first aid equipment to demonstrate their practical knowledge.

Course Outcome

A “Statement of Attainment” will be issued listing the individual units successfully completed.

Course Fees

This course is Fee for Service (FFS) and may vary from State to State. Course fees are to be paid in full upfront through your own pocket by direct debit or credit card. Terms and conditions will apply, contact us to find out more.

*Subject to meeting minimum class size: 15 students. If class size not met, then students will be required to attend next scheduled class time. A College staff will notify students prior to class start. All prices are in Australian Dollars and College reserves rights to change the course fee without any notice.

Course Cancellation and Refund Information

If you wish to cancel your enrolment, you must provide us with written notification to info@queensford.edu.au stating your full name, course details and reason for cancellation. Please note there will be NO REFUNDS granted before, on or after commencement date of a course. Students will be enrolled into the next class session if they have notified the college they cannot attend and wish to attend the next class session.
